   Michelle Birkel
      Development Director

Michelle is the Development Director and started with the Pius X Foundation in July 2005. She is responsible for all fund raising activities for the Foundation which supports Pius X High School. Developing and growing the Pius X Foundation ensures a quality, Catholic education remains affordable for future Pius X families and students. Michelle graduated from Aquinas High School in David City, Neb. and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Nebraska. She has 12 years of insurance industry experience including project management and training development and delivery.

   Amy Riley
      Administrative Assistant  

Amy is a part-time Administrative Assistant for the Pius X Foundation. She joined the staff with 20 years of retail banking experience in May 2006, and assists the director with development duties and the A Tradition of Faith campaign responsibilities.

   Mary J. Bossung
      Administrative Assistant        

Mary graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwest Missouri State University in 2004, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pubic Relations with a minor in Spanish. She joined the Pius X family in February 2007 as a full-time administrative assistant for the Foundation. She assists the director with development duties, is the layout and design editor of the biannual Pius Connections publication and the webmaster for the Foundation website.

  Kristin Heath
      Alumni Director

Kristin is a 1991 Pius X graduate and became our Alumni Director in August 2008. She received a bachelor's degree in Human Resources and Family Science with an emphasis in Fashion Merchandising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She joins our family with a background in customer communications and relationship development. Kristin’s responsibilities as Alumni Director include maintaining the alumni database, alumni relations, coordinating alumni events, helping with reunion planning and coordinating the Alumni Annual Appeal and Phone-a-thon.

   sOPHIA wERNING
      gRANT wRITING sPECIALIST

Sophia joined our staff as a part-time grant writer in March 2010. She earned a B.S. in Journalism with a minor in English from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1987. She has more than two decades of experience in professional writing, public relations, development and fundraising. She assists the Foundation Office in identifying grant opportunities and writing proposals to benefit Pius X activities and programs.
